Telecommunicating and Communication Service
One of the main figures of the city development is the development of communicating systems.
As far back as in 1862 there was a telegraph in the city. 110 years ago the first telephone station with manual maintenance was put into operation. By the initiative of the radio inventor O.S. Popov namely in Kherson the first in Ukraine civil radiotelephone station was built (in 1902), which connected the city with the city of Gola Prystan.
On the territory of the city there are 33 enterprises, which perform services of such kinds of communicating as: telephone international, telephone inner-city, mobile, post, broadcasting and receiving of TV-radio-programs, radio connection, telephone rural, computer-based, telegraph-based, wire-communicating, state controlling of electro-communicating.
Telephone communication service is provided by 28 ATS. The quantity of telephone subscribers was more than 87 thousand people. The quantity of telephones for 100 citizens is 33,77. From the beginning of the year 5800 telephones have been installed for the city citizens. The quantity of mobile service subscribers of all providers is about 400 thousand. There are 1143 mobile service subscribers for 1000 citizens. The quantity of Internet users is 14008 subscribers. This service is provided by more than 10 Internet-providers.
Broadcasting and receiving of TV-radio-programs and radio-connection is performed by 7 communicating enterprises. These enterprises employ about 2,5 thousand people (2,4% of total city quantity of employed people), and their fund of labor payment was 35,5 mil.UAH. The average wage of one employee was 1203,05 UAH. For 2007 it increased for 49,6%.
