Religion
On January, 1, 2008, the religion net of Kherson region encompasses 821 religion organizations, among which: 8 departments, 2 monasteries, 5 missions, 1 brotherhood, 1 religion educational institution and 804 religion communities.
The religion structure of Kherson region looks like this: the dominant factor of the religion life of the region is the Orthodox faith, whose communities take the prevalent quantity in the region: - 448. They are represented by: Ukrainian Orthodox Church, including 332 communities; Svjato-Grirorjevskiy (Bizukov) male monastery in the village Krasnij Majak, Berislav district and 1 brotherhood; Ukrainian Orthodox Church Kiev Patriarchy, including 72 communities; Ukrainian Autocephaly Orthodox Church, including 44 communities.
In Kherson region there is also Rome-Catholic Church, which includes 15 communities.
Ukrainian Greek-Catholic Church consists of 23 communities and a male monastery of Svjatoy Volodimir and Great Father Vasilian in Kherson.
223 communities in the region belong to Protestant Movements, such as: 81 communities are the members of Whole-Ukrainian Union of Christian-Baptists, 24 – Iegov’s Witnesses, 22 – Adventists of the 7th Day, 42 - Christians of the Faith of evangelic fifth-part, 9 – Evangelic Christians, 5 – Presbyterians, 1- Mennonites, 3 – German-Evangelic-Lutheran Church, 1 – Ukrainian Lutheran church, 3 – Episcopal (Anglican) Church.
Besides this, among non-traditional Protestants there are such registrants as 75 communities of charismats (of Full Version of Testament - 51, The God’s Church - 24). To non-traditional ones belong also 5 communities of New Apostles and 1 Church of Jesus Christ of the Last Days (Mormons).
In the region there are also 28 communities of Muslims. Jews obtain 8 communities, 7 of which belong to the Hassid Commonwealth of Habad Lubavich. In the region there are also new communities for it: Buddhists -2, Khrisnaits -1 and Sahagy-Joga followers -1.
In spite of the common tendencies in spreading of particular religion confessions, in the districts of the region there are some stable differences in spreading of different confessions and movements.
